New (Old) Logo

When option-g first started, a variation of this logo was essentially our logo. It has been updated and put back into action! A lot of people ask me what option-g means. When you type the “option” key and the “g” key at the same time, you get the copyright symbol ©. (at least on a mac you do). It has nothing to do with my name (Cole Gerst) which obviously has a G in it..and a C for that matter. That is actually just coincidence. I started using the copyright symbol as my personal logo really big in a sort of in a tongue-in-cheek, anti-establishment way. I was starting to do a lot of work that had so much legal copy and disclaimers etc. that it was taking up precious design space. I made some business cards with giant © symbols on them and the name came from that. The new logo is a play on the copyright symbol, but adding the subtle touch to make it now a big G with a little C in it for my initials as I try to co-brand myself as an artist along with my design work.

New Painting & New Blog

I’ve tried blogging several times before and I just can’t find the time to keep it up. Here I go again!

This is a new painting I recently finished entitled “Flowers”. I have been doing alot of work for other people this year and I haven’t had the time to do much original work. I’ve been sketching on some new ideas for 2012 but this piece sort of goes along with the Turf Wars series I did a few years back.
